These works have no real connection, apart from the fact that the composers who wrote them all hail from Spain and Latin America (Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil).
Although the initial connection among the composers was an artificial one, certain common points appeared. Sebastian Rivas and Luis-Fernando Rizo-Salom, both in their thirties, write what is known as concrete instrumental music, which uses instruments in unusual ways to create quasi-electronic textures. They share a similar way of worrying about sound with Fernando Villanueva. Also of the same generation, Villanueva achieves his results - developing more highly minimalistic music based on sound analyses - through different means. Ricardo Nillni, José-Manuel Lopez-Lopez and Mauri Buchala all use the musical « units » of harmonic colour and rhythm to create unexpected textures in sound.
