We are delighted that more and more conductors deal both with new works and the standard repertoire. But is there a specific way of conducting music of the present day, of approaching a new text ?
Although the presence of a conductor poses certain questions - What exactly is the role of this musician, who makes no sound himself ? Is the musical result any different from one conductor to another? Is a conductor really necessary ? - our goal is to investigate the conductor's relationship to new works.
