The idea of allowing conductors to direct powerful, aesthetically antithetical works has been our guide. Hugues Dufourt and Gérard Grisey, our "comrades" from l'Itinéraire and the spectral movement, have written works that relate to the notion of smooth time. Yan Maresz and Hanspeter Kyburz, on the other hand, are the heirs of the motivic and operational music that arose from serialism, and whose lively, biting, rhythmical works relate to the notion of striated time.

Conducting students from the Paris Conservatoire officiate under the watchful eye of Pierre-André Valade, conductor and co-founder of the ensemble, who maintains a close relationship with the musicians it contains.
