In Au Dehors of Jean-Luc Hervé there is no initial material, only some sound archetypes: the repetition, the chromatic sequence from one sound to another. It is the development over time that produces materials and forms. As the colonization of desert places by plants: on the bare stone appear first discrete lichens, then mosses, and small and large plants. It is the temporal musical process itself that makes music, which makes it go Au Dehors.

Limina, a world premiere, which refers to the word Limen (the Latin threshold), refers to the late Gérard Grisey, who described his music as “liminal”. Valerio Sannicandro describes the Limen as “an insurmountable, impassable line, an icy horizon, announcing a new space, a place and a different sound situation. The listener is introduced or projected abruptly into another region where the harmony, the timbre and the location of the instruments are then changed.

L’Epais of Philippe Leroux, also in world premiere, is the central piece of a cycle: Prélude à l’Epais, l’Epais, Interlude à l’Epais and Postlude à l’Epais. Court-circuit will play three pieces of this cycle, Interlude à l’Epais remaining to be composed. The composer proposes to “go into immersion immersing himself in sound, as one would penetrate the underwater world, to discover characters and soundscapes, as well as itineraries and idiosyncratic laws governing this particular world”.
